Article Writing for Beginners

Are you intimidated at the thought of writing an article that could be published on the Internet for literally millions of people to view?  If you answered ‘yes’, then you have a lot of company.

Some people are held back because they are not sure what to write about.  My suggestion is, if you are writing purely for pleasure then obviously write about those things that you feel strongly about.  However, if you are writing with an aim to generate leads for your business, then it’s crucial to write about subjects that can relate back to that business and your website.

There is really nothing new under the sun to be written!  No one person has the patent on an idea.  You will find the same ideas are mentioned in numerous articles.  The difference is, everyone has their own way of expressing themselves.  If you can get over this stumbling block, you will be well on your way to producing articles.

An article for the internet should be between 400-600 words.  This works out to be about 8 paragraphs with 3 regular length sentences in each paragraph.  Once you start writing, it is amazing how quickly you can punch out 8 short paragraphs.

Your first paragraph should grab your audience.  Sometimes the middle of the article is quickly scanned and then the reader jumps to the end.  This final paragraph should wrap everything up neatly.  My suggestion  is that you try to write as you speak,  so that your personality comes through in your writing.   Some people outsource their articles, but when you do this you cannot possibly create a consistent personality, so I would highly recommend that you give article writing your very best effort, before resorting to outsourcing.

Remember, people are not reading your article to critique your grammar, they are looking for information and if you deliver, they will be happy.
